The church has a few stories to tell about water and wine. However, this festival is about more than just the sensual and transcendent power of fine wines; it is much more about wine as part of human culture, as a link between landscape, craftsmanship, and community. It is about preserving regions, sustainable agriculture, treating nature and resources with respect – and dialogue between rural and urban areas. The festival sees itself as a place where these worlds come together and new forms of exchange can emerge.
Trade fair and celebration for everyone
At this natural wine festival, which is a mixture of trade fair and festival, winemakers who work sustainably, refrain from using herbicides, and do not “make” their wines but rather accompany them as they develop, serve their wines personally. Each glass opens up a small world: from the vineyard to the cellar to the visitors’ tasting glasses.
Behind every bottle there is a story—of families, landscapes, and paths to wine. It is precisely this direct exchange that makes the festival a place of discovery and encounter.
In the morning, the doors open to trade visitors, and in the afternoon, the winemakers and SLOW Cantina invite fans and those who want to become fans to enjoy food, drink, and conversation.
supporting program
In the days leading up to the festival, there will be an accompanying program of smaller tastings at Hamburg’s gastronomic partners – as a prelude to the Hamburg Natural Wine Festival at the Kulturkirche Altona 1 von 2 2 von 2, a special day celebrating wine as a cultural asset in its most sustainable and vibrant form, which will hopefully mark the beginning of a new Hamburg tradition. And in thematic masterclasses, visitors can deepen their knowledge in a targeted manner
