A chat and creative four-course meal with local food producers – eat smart!
We learn new things about the people, products and solutions from the region. We discuss, listen and ask questions. In between, we take two culinary breaks and enjoy the food together. The event is moderated by journalist Dorothea Heintze, with NDR chef and Hobenköök chef Thomas Sampl also in attendance.
About Rieckens Eichhof
Many people are familiar with the term ‘chick culling’ – but have you ever heard of ‘brother calf’? You can probably put two and two together. Fortunately, there are initiatives and farms where things are done differently. Felix Rieken is one such example. He shows that agriculture today can be sustainable, animal-friendly and full of enjoyment. At Eichhof, the cows graze in the pasture from spring to autumn, the calves are raised with their mothers, and an agroforestry system ensures biodiversity and healthy soils. In the farm’s own dairy, fresh organic milk is processed into creamy drinking milk, fine yoghurt and aromatic cheese – marketed directly through the farm shop and delivery service. In 2021, they were awarded first place in the Schleswig-Holstein Sustainability Prize for their commitment. Felix explains how he combines animal welfare, regionality and enjoyment so convincingly at the dinner event.
